Russian-Montrealer Nikolay Goltsev was sentenced to 40 months in a U.S. prison Wednesday for conspiring to ship restricted electronics to Russia that were later used in President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Halifax safety advocates are calling for government action to reduce the number of pedestrians injured or killed by cars, after the death of a senior who was hit while walking on a marked crosswalk earlier this week.
