That comes after a 4.7 per cent increase in 2024.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For 2025, federal tax is 15 per cent for earnings up to $57,375; 20.5 per cent between $57,375.01 and $114,750; and 26 per cent between $114,750.01 and $177,882.<\/p>\n<p>The tax rate is 29 per cent for earnings between $177,882.01 and $253,414, while anything more than that is taxed at 33 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, provinces and territories use their own personal income levels to calculate tax rates.<\/p>\n<p>The contribution limit for the registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) has increased to $32,490 for the 2025 tax year, up from $31,560 the year before.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup\" data-newsletter-inline=\"\">\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup__image\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/wp-content\/themes\/shaw-globalnews\/images\/skyline\/money123.jpg\" alt=\"Get expert insights, Q&amp;A on markets, housing, inflation, and personal finance information delivered to you every Saturday.\"\/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup__content\">\n<h3>Get weekly money news<\/h3>\n<p>Get expert insights, Q&amp;A on markets, housing, inflation, and personal finance information delivered to you every Saturday.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Maximum pensionable earnings and contributions have also gone up.<\/p>\n<p>The Year\u2019s Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE) for 2025 will be $71,300 \u2014 up from $68,500 the previous year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The maximum contribution for employee and employer Canada Pension Plan has increased to $4,034.10 each\u2014up from $3,867.50 in 2024. Those with lower incomes have a higher basic personal tax credit.<\/p>\n<p>As for Employment Insurance (EI), the maximum insurable earnings have increased to $65,700 \u2013 up from 63,200.<\/p>\n<p>For 2025, the maximum annual EI premium that an employee will pay is 1,077.48 \u2013 increasing from 1,049.12 in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum weekly EI benefit rate has also risen from href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/10962027\/cra-sign-in-process-tax-season-2025\/\">The federal tax agency said last month<\/a>\u00a0that it has \u201csimplified its sign-in process, making it easier to access the My Account, My Business Account, and Represent a Client portals with a single sign in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CRA account holders can now access all services in My Account, My Business Account, and Represent a Client\u00a0with one click as opposed to signing in separately, which was the case before.<\/p>\n<p>CRA has also rolled out a new document verification service and an online chat function that let\u2019s My Account users talk to a CRA agent if they run into any issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>If you\u2019re going to do your taxes yourself, I think you should always be looking into whatever digital services are there, either from the CRA or a CRA-approved tax filing service,\u201d Jarvis said.<\/p>\n<section id=\"content-dynamic-trending-stories\" class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The CRA\u00a0said it is opening up its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/revenue-agency\/campaigns\/simplefile-by-phone.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SimpleFile by Phone service<\/a>\u00a0to more Canadians this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/tax-season\">tax season<\/a>, while also for the first time making a digital option available for people who have filed their taxes in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>This free\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/automatic-tax-filing\">automatic tax filing<\/a>\u00a0service will be offered to \u201cindividuals with low or fixed incomes and simple tax situations that remain unchanged from year to year,\u201d D\u00e9borah Cl\u00e9ry, a CRA spokesperson, told Global News last month.<\/p>\n<p>She said the invitation letters to eligible Canadians will be sent out about <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/capital-gains\">capital gains<\/a> tax changes \u2014 for now, at least.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Last month, the federal government announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/10991123\/capital-gains-tax-changes-canada\/\">it was delaying plans to raise the inclusion rate on\u00a0capital gains.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A planned hike to the capital gains inclusion rate will not be implemented until Jan. 1, 2026, pushing back the original date of June 25, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Jarvis said the delay will help wealthy Canadians save \u201ca bunch of money\u201d and it\u2019s one less thing for them to worry about.<\/p>\n<p>The CRA says it is working to update its systems to reflect the current inclusion rate of 50 per cent, but this update may not be completed in time when online filing becomes available Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are impacted by this
