Quebec Premier Fran\u00e7ois\u00a0Legault<\/a> called the behaviour from the Tkachuk<\/a> brothers \u201cshameful\u201d this week, as political tensions between between Canada, the U.S. and both hockey teams continue to escalate ahead of Thursday night\u2019s 4 Nations Face-Off<\/a>\u00a0final.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In a recording from Monday, Legault condemned the fights \u2014 two of which were initiated by brothers Matthew and Brady Tkachuck \u2014 during the first few seconds of Saturday night\u2019s game at the Bell Centre in Montreal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to the fights from the Tkachuk brothers, I found it a bit shameful,\u201d Legault said during question period at a press briefing.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m not against fights. When you want revenge for a vicious hit, it could be a good idea. But when the game hasn\u2019t even started yet, that\u2019s not hockey,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

This came before President Donald Trump<\/a> poured more fuel on the fire on Thursday, firing another shot at Canada<\/a>, suggesting yet again that its northern neighbour become the \u201cfifty first state\u201d and again calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau \u201cGovernor.\u201d<\/p>\n

He confirmed he would \u201csadly\u201d not be able to attend the game, but goaded Canada ahead of the grudge match.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we will all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau would like to join us, he would be most welcome,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
