Snowblowers and shovels were being dusted off Monday morning in Kelowna<\/a>, B.C. Many of them were put to use for the first time this winter.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNothing, hardly any,\u201d said Kelowna resident Leith Handley when asked how much snow shovelling<\/a> he\u2019s done this season.<\/p>\n The lack of snow<\/a> accumulation in the Okanagan\u2019s valley bottom this winter<\/a> left many chomping at the bit to get shovelling.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve done at least four or five driveways today,\u201d said eight-year-old Owen.<\/p>\n The snow started coming down across the Okanagan early Sunday and continued to fall throughout the day and night.<\/p>\n In Kelowna\u2019s Lower Mission, about nine cm was measured, nearly 12 cm in other neighbourhoods depending on elevation.<\/p>\n However, it\u2019s not so much about the amount of snow that fell but the timing of the valley\u2019s first significant snowfall of the winter.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \u201cWe usually see our first significant snow in December and January,\u201d said Global News meteorologist Peter Quinlan. \u201cFebruary is definitely a little late and we are kind of on the tail end of winter in the Okanagan.\u201d<\/p>\n
