Resource Centre expansion is slated for completion by the end of the month, offering an additional 109 beds for the city\u2019s most vulnerable community members.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d21y75miwcfqoq.cloudfront.net\/70c8fc80\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The current shelter is currently equipped with 91 beds, but Blood Tribe Department of Health (BTDH), who operates the shelter, has a rule in place that no one who is need of a place to stay is turned away.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup\" data-newsletter-inline=\"\">\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup__image\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe traditionally don\u2019t turn anyone away,\u201d said BTDH chief operating officer Kash Shade. \u201cBut when the extreme cold hits, we have to encourage everyone to come into the shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With province-wide temperatures reaching \u201cextreme-cold\u201d values over the next few weeks, the shelter is currently reaching over capacity on a nightly basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes we\u2019re seeing upwards of over 200 people a night here,\u201d said shelter director Suzanne Buchanan. \u201cWe can\u2019t get our expansion
