Billy Ray Cyrus\u2019<\/a> ex-wife Firerose<\/a> is speaking out about the 63-year-old singer following his performance at U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> Liberty Ball on Monday.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Cyrus took the stage in Washington, D.C., and his performance was deemed an \u201cepic disaster<\/a>\u201d by fans after he got frustrated on stage over alleged technical difficulties.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship,\u201d Firerose, 36, said in a statement<\/a> to People.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I\u2019m glad the truth is coming to light \u2014 for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there\u2019s a problem,\u201d she continued. \u201cFor me, I remain focused on my faith, my music, my healing and using my story to encourage others to find strength and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus and Firerose, who were married for seven months, finalized their divorce in August 2024. Cyrus cited irreconcilable differences and \u201cinappropriate marital conduct\u201d when he filed for divorce<\/a> from Firerose, whose legal name is Johanna Rose Hodges. During their heated divorce proceedings, Firerose and Cyrus both accused<\/a> each other of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.<\/p>\n

Firerose\u2019s comments come after Cyrus\u2019 son, Trace Cyrus, wrote an open letter to his father on Wednesday, saying that he \u201cbarely\u201d recognizes him anymore and asking him to reach out for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems this world has beaten you down and it\u2019s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you\u2019ve pushed all of us away,\u201d Trace wrote.<\/p>\n

He said that his sister, Noah Cyrus<\/a>, 24, wanted their dad to be part of her life and claimed he disregarded that. \u201cThat\u2019s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns,\u201d Trace continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at mamaws [sic] funeral when you didn\u2019t expect me to I\u2019m still here right now. As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Trace said that he hasn\u2019t talked to his father in a while and noted that he is currently a year and a half sober from alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what you\u2019re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I\u2019d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you,\u201d Trace\u2019s open letter concluded.<\/p>\n
